Our Patient Friendly Process
Consultation
Your decision to have cosmetic surgery is very personal and at Hass Plastic Surgery & MediSpa we take it seriously and will help you through every phase of the process. Whether it’s a phone call to our office for information or to set up your complimentary cosmetic consultation with Drs. Andrea or Brian Hass, our staff is committed to providing you with the highest quality care.
When you do come for your consultation you will meet with one of our Patient Coordinators and she’ll gather appropriate information on your beauty goals so when you meet with the doctors they can better assess if you are a good candidate for the procedures you desire. An informed patient is more relaxed and confident therefore communication between doctor and patient is always important to us. When you meet with Dr. Andrea Hass and/or Dr. Brian Hass they will further review the types of rejuvenation procedures for your individual needs and answer any questions or concerns you may have. Your medical history and pre-operative needs will be discussed and then a convenient surgery date will be scheduled once you’ve made your decision.
If you are unsure about scheduling a consultation right away, but would like additional advice and information you can trust, then fill out our Chat with Jill area for a confidential, no-obligation discussion of your cosmetic surgery questions. If you are out-of-town and need us to set up a more thorough on-line style consultation let Jill know and she can arrange.
For convenience you may print out our Patient Registration Forms and bring with you to the consultation or fax (561)-624-9995 ahead of time prior to your visit.
Preparing for Surgery & the Pre-operative Visit
Patients who are considering plastic surgery with Drs. Andrea and Brian Hass should be assured that the procedures we offer in our full accredited, AAAASF operating facility have proven to be safe when perfomed by skilled board certified plastic surgeons like the Hasses. Whether you seek a breast augmentation, eye lid or facelift surgery, rhinoplasty or a tummy tuck or liposuction, there is a helpful list of preparations and precautions that we strongly recommend for everyone prior to surgery. They are:
No aspirin, anti-inflammatory medications, vitamins and supplements at least 2 – 4 weeks prior to surgery. This will help minimize bruising and speed up your recovery as these items thin blood and promote increased swelling, bleeding and bruising.
For certain procedures we do (i.e. tummy tuck, breast lift, reduction or facelift) we require that you quit smoking for at least 2 weeks before surgery and for at least a month after. (Smoking greatly increases your risk of complications and will contribute to poor healing, circulation and scars.)
Please arrange for someone to drive you to and from our surgery center (except for those patients staying at a convenient recovery center. Then arrangements will communicate with the center to make those arrangements.)
If you are planning to recover at home please be sure someone can care for you the first 24 to 72 hours after surgery.
On the day of your surgery we ask that you wear loose clothing which will be easy to put on your after the operation ( a shirt that buttons in front, loose fitting workout pants, etc.)
Do not eat or drink anything after bedtime on the day before your procedure, unless instructed. Follow all of the doctor’s instructions carefully and when in doubt call our office for specific details.
Once your surgery has been scheduled, we will set up a pre-operative visit generally at 2 weeks before your date. At that visit our nurse will check your general health and readiness for your surgery and go over go over instructions, review consents and take your pre-operative photos. Next you will meet again with plastic surgeons, Dr. Andrea or Brian Hass (or both) to go over your surgery details and they will answer any other questions or concerns you may have. If necessary additional tests or further medical clearance from your other primary care physicians may be requested at this time. At the conclusion of your pre-op visit you’ll receive thorough post-operative instructions and all necessary prescriptions or garments to take home.
Your Surgery Day
The day prior to surgery our staff will call you to review your scheduled time to arrive and go over any last minute details for your procedure. On the day of surgery, you will be asked to arrive about 45 minutes prior to your surgery time and our staff will get you comfortable and prepared for surgery in a private waiting room. You will meet other members of our OR surgical team and Dr. Hass will see you again to review your case and discuss your care.
The operating room is our sanctuary. Our focus is on you and we will ensure your maximum safet and comfort at all time during your surgery. After surgery, you will awaken in our recovery room where our staff will monitor you and care for your comfort until you are ready to go home.
Post-Operative Care
After returning home, or to the recovery enter, you will be contacted by phone to see how you are feeling and to answer any questions you or your caregiver may have. You will also go home with the doctors’ emergency cell phone numbers should you need to get the doctors at any time post-operatively. Depending on the type of surgery, we will see you in our office either the next morning, or within the first week after your procedure. Remember, we are always here for you every step of the way to assist you and keep you well informed before, during and after your surgery recovery.
