Typically it’s the 30s when people start to notice frown lines or crows feet. Consistent BOTOX® or Dysport® treatments can help reduce wrinkles and slow the rate at which the brow drops over time. Fillers are typically added in the late 30s, early 40s when lines and hollowness may be noticed around the mouth and nasal folds. (Fillers to the lips however, can be done as early as the 20s if desired.)
When it comes to surgery, typically the eyelids are what patients consider first, usually in their early 40s and 50s when signs of puffiness and excess skin show on the lids. If people are asking you if you’re tired or angry, it may be time to consider eyelid surgery.
For a natural, long-lasting facelift, plan on doing your first in your early 50s. Neck looseness, loss of a jaw line and too much softness in the cheeks are the first signs we’re ready for surgical help. If in doubt, an unexpected reflection or photo will let you know.
At 60, it’s time to re-tweak the face and eyes and maybe add a brow lift. Keep in mind, these patients generally continue maintenance with fillers, BOTOX® and clinical skin care. Once in your 70s it may be time for that last facelift.
As I’ve learned from patients – aging gracefully doesn’t happen by accident. My patients who look fabulous in their 80’s (you’d never know unless they tell you), are those who started young and always looking their best.
