Gynecomastia in West Palm Beach, FL
Male breast reduction procedures are commonly requested in the South Florida area as men enjoy warmer weather activities in lighter clothing or without shirts. For young, mature men, having loose skin in their chest area (or male boobs, as they are often called) can be embarrassing. Dr. Brian Hass and Dr. Michael Frederick, board-certified plastic surgeons at Hass Plastic Surgery & MediSpa, offer gynecomastia surgery for men in West Palm Beach, Palm Beach Gardens, Jupiter, Palm Beach, and the surrounding areas of Florida.
What is Gynecomastia?
Gynecomastia is characterized by excess skin around the breast or extra glandular tissue development in one or both male breasts. It can also be localized fat or, in more severe situations, the excess breast tissue can cause the breasts to sag or stretch. Some men who have over-developed breasts may have inherited the condition or they may have had hormone changes. Other men may have had weight fluctuations or used certain medications which have now caused the condition of gynecomastia.
What Are the Benefits of Gynecomastia Surgery?
Although enlarged male breasts may not be physically painful for men, they can be emotionally damaging, lowering self-confidence. Men may avoid taking their shirt off, or wear loose, oversized clothing to cover up. Either way, it is not necessary to avoid physical activities, intimate moments, or even hide the condition when the gynecomastia plastic surgery is a relatively simple procedure for a healthy male patient.Click here to see more
What Should I Expect from My Gynecomastia Procedure?
The plastic surgery to reduce male breasts is performed in several ways depending on the type of correction needed. If there is minimal excess skin, then SAFE liposuction may be able to get the desired result. If excision techniques are suggested because excess skin or firm gland need to be removed, or the areola needs to be reduced or repositioned, then the incision patterns are placed discreetly, in the folds of the skin or along the areola.
The surgery itself is about two hours long and performed under an IV/MAC sedation in our AAAASF- certified surgical facility in Palm Beach Gardens. Patients go home to recover with only minor bandages and most only need a few days off from work. Exercise and strenuous work is limited for about four to five weeks; however, due to the fact that the surgery is on the chest area and is covered, most patients can get back to normal routines fairly quickly.
How Can I Enhance my Physique with Gynecomastia?
Traditional gynecomastia surgery only excises tissue but modern body sculpting with SAFE lipo and fat grafting can enhance your result even further. By aggressively removing the fat under the axilla and the side of the chest the pectoralis muscle is highlighted giving more definition. This definition can be further improved by fat grafting into the pec muscle to give a more sculpted appearance and a more muscular chest.
How Long Do the Results Last?
Male breast reduction is considered a permanent solution for gynecomastia, but you may develop enlarged breasts due to lifestyle changes, medications, and other medical conditions. Eating right and exercising are the best ways to maintain the masculine contours of your chest after male breast reduction.
