What is an Endoscopic Brow Lift?

An endoscope is a video camera attached to a long thin tube that uses small incisions for the brow lift procedure rather than larger incisions, which might have been customary in the past. For this procedure, several short incisions are made in the hairline, as opposed to the longer incision used for coronal or traditional hairline brow lifts. Through these tiny incisions, the brow is lifted off the bone, raised and then anchored to achieve the desired position. A number of methods can be used to anchor the brow — I use dissolvable implants (endotines) which the body will eventually replace with scar tissue for the brow’s stability. At Hass Plastic Surgery & MedSpa, the entire surgery is minimally invasive, well-tolerated and generally patients experience only mild bruising and swelling.

Some of you may have heard reference to the ‘BOTOX® Brow Lift’. This is a mild lift achieved with BOTOX® (or Dysport®) alone just by placing injections in a particular way to relax the depressor muscles of the forehead. This property of BOTOX® also helps with the success and maintenance of an endoscopic brow lift.

Results for an endoscopic brow lift are often softer and more natural than with the traditional coronal brow lift. When I evaluate a patient who is considering the surgery, we discuss their desired results as well as look at their hair thickness and growth pattern. In a consultation for upper face rejuvenation, we help you further understand whether you are a good candidate for a brow lift vs. upper eyelid lift, or both. In many patients, it is their brow that may make the overall difference in their appearance at it can help reposition a low or sagging brow and give a more alert and youthful appearance.
